Lying on your resume has been going on for ever.  I have even known people who have been called out on it.  I think it is one of the reasons that employers have a 60-120 day probationary period when you get hired.  Most of the time they do not have enough time to properly vetted a candidate before they get, what they call a "qualified candidate".  In a world where there seems to be expanding volumes of opportunities many companies feel pressured to get a candidate in the door and then check them out.
